Mom, this one's for you.
Yesterday I nearly gave up. Today is a new day. Let's go back to transfers, because transfers remind me of home.

Trying to be creative without looking at a screen.
I don't know if this is going to work tomorrow, but I tried to be original tonight and make a few transparencies the old school way. (A little paper and a little oil). Negatives were first made in such a fashion before a stronger material was discovered.
Drawing has never been my strong point. I get nervous and my hands shake. Purely from not practicing.
Doesn't hurt to start up again!
My ten minute drawings.

DONE!
It took a little more time then I anticipated, but I learned a lot from this project. Such as, making sure all the pictures are looking the same direction before spending hours nailing them together. . .

last project for the summer
Perhaps I'm fighting against time, but maybe that makes it all the more fun. Two more of these odd murals? Four days before I leave? Why not.
It's been a whirlwind of emotions these past few weeks, but the best thing to do during these times, is not meditate on the issues, but WORK WORK WORK through it. And the issues will unwind themselves.
Whitney... if you read this blog, I stole this from you. :) It's really helped me.
When things are looking not so great:
“Remember, whatever discipline you’re in, whether you’re a musician or a photographer, a fine artist or a cartoonist, a writer, a dancer, a singer, a designer — whatever you do, you have one thing that’s unique: You have the ability to make art. And for me, and for so many of the people I’ve known, that’s been a lifesaver, the ultimate lifesaver. It gets you through good times, and it gets you through … the other ones. Sometimes life is hard. Things go wrong — in life and in love and in business and in friendship and in health and in all the other ways life can go wrong. And when things get tough, this is what you should do: Make good art. I’m serious. Husband runs off with a politician? Make good art. Leg crushed and then eaten by mutated boa constrictor? Make good art. IRS on your trail? Make good art. Cat exploded? Make good art. Someone on the Internet thinks what you’re doing is stupid or evil or it’s all been done before? Make good art. Probably things will work out somehow, eventually time will take the sting away, and that doesn’t even matter. Do what only you can do best: Make good art. Make it on the bad days, make it on the good days, too.”

- And you have artwork in the midst of it all.

Wha?? Old slides do confirm that the long told story is true: My parents were art students.
I think they forgot to mention that they had access to a freaking large studio...
Caleb, is that you?
And of course, Great Cousin Cheryl!!
